Remembrance

  • Remembrance

    Remembrance is an art
    snatched with the bare hands.
Found in the back rooms of haunted
mansions, and forgotten at the quaint
little shops, this piece of memory
tucks and prods at the corners of minds.

    Remembrance is rain
after the dusty months of drought
and first touch of frosty snow
    on our shoulders still
    tanned from the summer months.
We are startled at first sight
and then sit back in our seats
    sighing with contentment.

    A glimpse of a dream,
    a slight gesture of hands,
a strange town that feels like home
is all it takes to stir up
the artist who picks up the brush,
rolls up the sleeves paint up
    the landscape and brings out
the statues stored at the attic
    of our minds.
