Yeah, Viggo wrote to me

With a title like that, one might be wondering, if Viggo actually wrote to me, and if so, what about? Perhaps, he was answering fan mail? Perhaps a petition to stop stalking? Perhaps not the Viggo, but some other schmucks?

No, really, he wrote to me two years ago, out of annoyance, but thoughtful and courteous as usual. It was right after the Tsunami hit Asia, and thousands of people perished under the waves in December of 2005. The news hit me hard, since I am originally from southeast Asia, and it was all I could do to read news of death, and devastation, and not break down. I weeped and listened to news about the aftermath the tsunami had left behind, and when I browsed over to Viggo's percevalpress.com, I was disappointed to see that they had made no mention of the disaster. After waiting for a few days to see if the site would mention it, and not finding it, I wrote to the site, expressing my disappointment. And, I think that must have boiled Viggo a bit, for in spite of their policy not to correspond, he wrote me back informing me that his site only covers unique news, that are otherwise not widely reported in the mainstream media. He actually signed his name in his mail!

The fact that I was on the internet at the same time as him, as he wrote back within minutes of my mail, just totally made me sweat with excitement. Such a loser, that I am. But hey, as mortified as I was about this incidence, I treasure this piece of electronic mail from him forever.

"Thank you for your thoughtful letter,

Viggo Mortensen"
