Amazing video of Viggo singing "Masters of War" at The People Speak
Masters of War
Come you masters of war You that build all the guns You that build the death planes You that build the big bombs You that hide behind walls You that hide behind desks I just want you to know I can see through your masks
You that never done nothin' But build to destroy You play with my world Like it's your little toy You put a gun in my hand And you hide from my eyes And you turn and run farther When the fast bullets fly
Like Judas of old You lie and deceive A world war can be won You want me to believe But I see through your eyes And I see through your brain Like I see through the water That runs down my drain
You fasten the triggers For the others to fire Then you set back and watch When the death count gets higher You hide in your mansion As young people's blood Flows out of their bodies And is buried in the mud
You've thrown the worst fear That can ever be hurled Fear to bring children Into the world For threatening my baby Unborn and unnamed You ain't worth the blood That runs in your veins
How much do I know To talk out of turn You might say that I'm young You might say I'm unlearned But there's one thing I know Though I'm younger than you Even Jesus would never Forgive what you do
Let me ask you one question Is your money that good Will it buy you forgiveness Do you think that it could I think you will find When your death takes its toll All the money you made Will never buy back your soul
And I hope that you die And your death'll come soon I will follow your casket In the pale afternoon And I'll watch while you're lowered Down to your deathbed And I'll stand o'er your grave 'Til I'm sure that you're dead
Here are some supposed quotes from Viggo about the Oscar nominations. Don't know if he truly said them or not but thought it is worth mentioning them.
examiner.com ""It's kind of odd to finally win the lottery and there's nobody at the ticket booth," said first-time nominee Viggo Mortensen, who earned a best-actor slot for the crime tale "Eastern Promises."
The nearly three-month strike made Viggo Mortensen's first Oscar nomination bittersweet.
"It's kind of odd to finally win the lottery and there's nobody at the ticket booth," he said. "I'm sure my mom would like to see me on TV and so forth. But if there's a strike, I'm not crossing the line."
He added that media conglomerates should "have the decency to stop blaming the union and sit down at the table and make a fair deal and they can have a ceremony and they can starting making movies and TV shows again."
"Forget about those 11 Oscar nominations for The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. How does 15 sound? That’s the astonishing number of Goya Award nominations the Mortensen film released in between his Cronenberg pair, Alatriste, earned for 2007. All in all, Mortensen is on a heck of a roll, and when you throw in his sideline activities as a poet, photographer and jazz musician, the very definition of a 21st century Renaissance Man."
"It would be noble and only fair if those corporate decision-makers in the entertainment industry who are spending considerable funds on their reasonably successful campaigns to put the Writers Guild in a bad light as party-poopers would spend that money on a fair contract and fair compensation to the writers, which we all know they will end up having to do eventually. It is the right thing to do. Lets hope decency wins out."
""If there's a strike I will not go," the Best Actor nominee told the Associated Press on Tuesday, shortly after this year's nominations were announced, "but I have a feeling they'll solve it. I hope they do. I'm sure my mom would like to see me on TV."
Found it through viggo-works.com which credited to dandelionpress If you find yourself agreeing with Dennis Kucinich, but are thinking of voting for more electable candidates in the Democractic Primaries, please hear Viggo out. It is worth listening to him urging you to vote your conscience.
When a television network has the power to decide which candidates are "worthy" of addressing the American people, it robs the American people of their most precious right to the free flow of information and dissenting points of view. I am an artist mostly known for acting in movies, but I am also a citizen and a voter who resents the control that big money, big media, and entrenched political interests have in deciding what I should see, what I should hear, and what I should be allowed to think. ABC and other media censoring Dennis Kucinich- and others legitimately running for the office of President of the United States- by not allowing them to be part of televised debates is, in my opinion, an outrageous manipulation of and disservice to the public, as well as a criminal misuse of public airwaves. If you agree, please make your objections known to ABC and other media outlets similarly restricting public speech and political information. Thank you, Viggo Mortensen.
The actor Viggo Mortensen was so ticked off by the exclusion of Dennis Kucinich from last night's debates that he got on the red eye to New Hampshire. He stood on a table with the Democratic candidate in the storefront headquarters in Concord, N.H., this afternoon, and spoke softly about the debates. "You have four people up there, no disrespect to any of them, who are cherrypicking from what Dennis is talking about."
"If you're going to steal from Dennis and not let him be on TV, then steal all of it...." Read the story HERE
"His decision to come to New Hampshire was prompted in large part by ABC's decision to exclude Kucinich from last night's Democratic Presidential debate.
"When a television network has the power to decide which candidates are 'worthy' of addressing the American people, it robs the American people of their most precious right to the free flow of information and dissenting points of view," Mortensen said. "I am an actor, but I am also a citizen and a voter who resents the control that big money, big media, and entrenched political interests have in deciding what I should see, what I should hear, and what I should be allowed to think."
It would seem from even a cursory reading of world history that there is no new horror under the sun, that we will perhaps always have to contend with destructive impulses in ourselves and others. That does not prevent us from making an effort to change, from working to find a better way. -v.m. percevalpress.com
You reign in my dreams. Vividly and intensely I see your beautiful smile and your thoughtful blue eyes. Kindness and keenness exude even in my imagined world.
Tribute to you
You are not just a pretty face. You see, feel and engage the world. Your words are carefully measured and your actions meticulously analyzed. You note and record all things that arise. When dew hangs onto the morning’s leaves, when stars above rise and shine, you watch and wonder the glory that surrounds us. When children cry and mothers die, when fathers shackled and blown into pieces, you writhe in pain and feel their outrage. You don’t just pay lip service. You go out and help the afflicted. Your observations blow my mind, Your kindness and humility outshine mine. And when you smile, when you really smile, my whole world rises up into the sky.
